Website, auf der mittels Suchbegriffen Internetinhalte gefunden werden können. Es gibt Suchmaschinen wie z.B. AltaVista, die sich ihren Index maschinell aufbauen, indem sie in regelmäßigen Abständen das Internet durchforsten (Spider). Andere Searchengines fungieren als Webkataloge, sie verwalten die Inhalte redaktionell, z.B. Yahoo!
